I want to start off by saying I am not a foodie, food blogger nor do I love cooking. However, I do enjoy eating healthy and cooking dinner for my family.

That is why I wrote this article. I need the basics that will quickly get me through making dinner. If you have 3 kids, you know what I mean by that. My house is at it’s peak craziness from 5pm – 8pm. It’s always the same scenario but just another day.

I have created this guide that will quickly get you through that situation and still allow you to make a delicious and healthy meal for your family.

I will add a few links to Amazon so you can read the reviews and order the product if you would like. We are an affiliate with Amazon but all that means to you is we get a small commission for any sales from our site.

Air Fryer

Compared to deep-frying your food, this is a much healthier option. Using an air fryer reduces the amount of fat, calories and health related issues that come from foods that are fried using oil. Many people like the taste of foods that are fried and I have to admit, french fries are amazing!

Air fryers work like this…

It cooks by circulating hot air around the food placed into the appliance. It is similar to a convection oven except it sends the air around at a higher speed so it gets all the surfaces of the food. The air fryer is quick and easy!

Cutting Board

One of the main reasons to find a good cutting board is to ensure the life of your kitchen knives. There are many options as far as what material your board is made out of but I have found that a Bamboo cutting board is a great choice because it has a few incredible benefits.

  • Low maintenance and easy to clean
  • Sanitation and health – Bamboo doesn’t scratch like other materials so you don’t have pockets that will hold in moisture and bacteria.
  • Looks great on your counter top
  • Renewable resource – Bamboo is actually a grass. It is the fastest growing grass on earth so instead of taking over 30 years to regrow after it is cut down, it only takes 3.

IMPORTANT: Make sure your bamboo cutting board doesn’t contain formaldehyde and glue that could get into your food over time. It should be non-toxic and contain natural processes.

Salad Spinner

A salad spinner is a kitchen tool that simply washes and removes excess water from salad greens. We are seeing more and more articles and recalls about greens and lettuce. We want to make sure we do our part and wash them before we serve them.

  1. We recently got an air fryer to replace our regular oil fryer. Great decision! I love that we are cutting out unnecessary oil and my husband can still feel like he’s getting “fried food” without me nagging him about healthier choices. Win-win!

  2. I still haven’t tried the Insta Pot! I also tried the air fryer but ended up selling it. Maybe I wasn’t using it right. But I really should try this dang Insta Pot!
